Denture Repair
If you have a complete set of dentures for your upper and lower teeth, remember that they should be handled with utmost care. However, accidents do happen and over time, your dentures would need some sort of repair. The most common damages that your dentures can have are cracks or chips on the surface of the tooth. You should be especially concerned if the damage is on the pink base. Once you wear the dentures and there is a crack on this part which you may not have noticed before, your gums and the surrounding tissues on your mouth will be affected.
If there is a minor crack or chip on your dentures, there are denture repair kits which are available for you. However, if the damage is much worse and your dentures have accidentally fallen off to the floor which caused it to break into several pieces, it is much better to bring the dentures back to your dentist for repairs. If an artificial tooth is missing, it would only take a day or two to have the dentures repaired. If the damage is much more extensive, it may require several days or weeks for the dentist to be able to repair your dentures. Finally, remember that dentures only last for five years or so. After this time, they will become loose and ill-fitting due to the changes inside your mouth. In this case, replacement is a much cost-effective option instead of having repairs done on your dentures.
